A. Spice and Slice of Asian Culture: Social Activism

A series of award-winning Asian public service announcements present concern
for equality, justice, civil rights and other pressing societal issues
throughout Asia. Discussion will follow.

Curated by Steve Lu, Asian Media Access, the " The Best Asian Television
Commercials" has a wealth of collection of the best and funniest Asian TV
ads from all over Asia, ranged from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India,
Japan, Korean, Thailand, and Turkey, and from different industries such as
insurance & banking institutions, beverages & drinks, cars, restaurants &
food items, beauty products, airlines, newspapers, clothing, etc.   Many
commercials use satire to make jokes about popular cultures, for example,
using Japanese scary movie technique to sell deeply discounted merchandise
that will "SHOCK" you.   With a "Appreciate Little Things Come in Life"
slogan, the beer commercial featured people rejoicing on the street just for
getting a parking spot, or getting the last crab leg, or even just because
it is a Friday.  The best one goes to Turkey's bank commercial that used
people to form various shapes and objects of expensive jewelry and gifts.
The creativity and the quality of the commercials will for sure to win many
"Ahhhhhhh" and "Haaaaaaa" from audience.

and exciting new compositions with Taiko Lab at the Mixed Blood Theatre.
Join them for this unique opportunity to experience works-in-progress by Mu
Daiko members, featuring special guest artists in energizing combinations of
taiko with everything from voice to break dancing.  Don't miss this sneak
preview of pieces that may appear in future mainstage productions.

3. Free Mammograms & Pap Tests at NorthPoint

NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, Community Center of Excellence In
Women's Health (CCOE) and The College of American Pathologists Invite You To
See, Test and Treat:
A Breast & Cervical Cancer Screening Event for Women Ages 18+

Date & Time: May 13-15, 2008
Location: NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center, 1313 Penn Avenue North,
Minneapolis, MN 55411

Don't wait for your Pap and mammogram results and the hassle of follow up
appointments! You will be seen, tested and treated in one day.*  Spend the
day with them! There will be food, entertainment and health screenings while
you wait!

Not only will you have your Pap test and mammogram, you will receive your
results while you wait. If you need follow-up treatment, you may be able to
receive it the same day.  Mammograms are for those women at least 40 years
old or have a family history of breast cancer.

Services will be free of charge for uninsured and underinsured women;
otherwise your health insurance will be billed. Please bring your insurance
card with you.

*Some results may require treatment that cannot be performed the same day.
