7. Call for Entries
The Black Dog Cafe, 308 Prince St. in Saint Paul, is a cafe and wine bar
dedicated to the promotion of artists and of community. Located in the
heart of the Lowertown artists quarter, they continually strive to find new
ways to get people together, share ideas, and enjoy life. Currently, they
are looking for local film makers and video artists that would be interested
in showing their work.
This is a weekly event, each Sunday starting at 7:00, which premiered Sunday
March 2nd. Since variety is the spice of life, they will accept for
approval: narratives, documentaries, and experimental works; as well they
may be feature length pieces or shorts. However, works over 90 minutes will
probably be less accepted. Likewise, works under 20 minutes will be subject
to being shown only in pairings, and thus harder to show unless others of
that length are submitted. As well this is a family environment, though a
fairly liberal one, so they will be less approving of showing anything of a
questionable nature. The Deadline as of now is April 5th for works to be
considered in time to show for the next Sunday, but works will still be
accepted after that for the weeks following. If you are interested, please
respond as soon as possible at howyoureachme@hotmail.com or call:
651-228-9274 and ask for Chad or leave a message.

12. Southeast Asian Stories Needed
The many experiences of refugees from the U.S. War in Southeast Asia have
yet to be documented. For many those who are displaced refugees from the
countries of Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam, their stories and voices remain
silenced and unheard. As for the generation(s) that was born into
refugee-ness in cities across the U.S., their role as "cultural brokers" has
facilitated conversation between the homeland and resettlement. As these
generations grow, they are constantly defining and re-defining what it means
to be a part of the Southeast Asian community.
Through a forthcoming publication known as "The Southeast Asian Anthology:
(re)planting our Stories" they seek to document the ongoing experiences and
stories of the Southeast Asian community. It's time to write and reclaim
our his&her-stories.
Take part in the growing of our his&her-story of our people by writing for
the Anthology!! They want your STORY and YOUR VOICE IN THE ANTHOLOGY!
