Asian Media Access will host its Third Asian Lunar New Year Celebration.
Date & Time: Sunday, March 2, 2008, 12:00 noon - 3:00 p.m.
Location: Varsity Theater (Dinkytown), 1308 - 4th Street, SE., Minneapolis.
This exciting New Year celebration is complete with entertainment, food and
a silent auction to help raising funds for the Asian Media Access Multi Arts
Complex. Guests will enjoy a diverse buffet lunch with feature dishes from
Chinese, Hmong, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other ethnic
restaurants, and back by high demand, a showing of the best of television
commercials from
Asia Pacific.

Don't miss this modern Minnesota folktale celebrating family, community, and
culture. Mu's hit original show Walleye Kid: The Musical tells the
heartwarming story of a Minnesota couple longing for a child. One winter
night while ice fishing, they find themselves the unexpected adoptive
parents of a baby Korean girl when she emerges from the mouth of a colossal
walleye. As the girl grows up, she recognizes that she is not like everyone
else. Accompanied by the mysterious walleye, she takes a magical journey to
the land of her birth, where she meets the members of a theater troupe who
help her understand her unique story.

B. MCCSC Chinese New Year Celebration
The Minnesota Chinese Cultural Services Center invites the public join in on
their celebration event for the 2008 Chinese New Year.

5. Families Invited to Discover 'Treasure' From Minnesota Children's Museum
Families Invited to Discover 'Treasure' From Minnesota Children's Museum at
34 Hennepin County Libraries in February! Celebrate the merged library
system with fun activities for families!
What: Children and families are invited to explore Discovery Trunks from the
Minnesota Children's Museum during a fun-filled afternoon at many Hennepin
County libraries. The trunks are based on themes such as Jump to Japan,
Global Shoes, and Hands on Health, and are filled with "treasures" -- great
books and activities that encourage early learning play, such as puzzles and
dress-up materials. Volunteers will be on hand to help children explore and
learn. Drop in any time during the hours scheduled. When finished,
children are encouraged to check out books from the library to continue
their adventure at home!
Who: Hosted by Hennepin County Library, in collaboration with the Minnesota
Children's Museum.

6. Public Radio Int'l Seeking Immigrant/refugee Family Experiencing
A reporter from Public Radio International is looking for an
immigrant/refugee individual/family who is now experiencing poverty (or has
in the past) to include in a series on poverty that they are now putting
together. If anyone knows of an individual/family who would like to speak
to the media about these experiences, please contact Sarah Herder,
Development & Communications Director, Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights,
at 612-341-3302 ext.126, or sherder@mnadvocates.org right away. There is a
reporter on the ground and they would like to collect stories from
Minnesota.
