Watch North Minneapolis Residents Speak Up at TPT Ch. 17
Show Time: January 26th, 2008 at 9pm on TPT/17
Introduction: "Speak Your Mind" is a 30-min video, designed as a
non-traditional community engagement project, sponsored by Juxtaposition
Arts and Asian Media Access. The project is led by youth and young adults
from both agencies, they went out on the streets of North Minneapolis to
capture the ideas and opinions of the people who live, work and frequent the
neighborhood.
This program is a collage of ideas, stories, and sound bites that paint a
multi-faceted, complex, and at times, conflicting portrait of the Northside.
Please tune in, at 1/26, and write to us about your opinions at
amamedia@amamedia.org, or call at 612-376-7715

6. Give Kids a Smile
Thousands of low-income children across the state of Minnesota receive
much-needed free dental care in February when volunteer dentists and other
dental professionals donate their time and resources to provide free care
during their annual Give Kids a Smile event.
Give Kids a Smile is a unique program coordinated and led by the Minnesota
Dental Association. In 2008, free care will be provided on Friday, Feb. 1,
and Saturday, Feb. 2, to children whose families cannot afford to pay for
dental care. This program is one of several ways in which the Minnesota
Dental Association is trying to make sure that every child has access to
dental care.
The Minnesota Dental Association launched the program in response to the
growing number of children who cannot access quality dental care. Each
year, dental professionals donate their time and talents to serve about
6,000 children in locations across the state.

8. Asian/Chinese Night at the Target Center when Yao Ming Plays the
Timberwolves on 2/4/2008
For the 6th time since Yao Ming entered NBA in 2002, China Insight and
Minnesota Timberwolves will organize the annual Asian/Chinese Night at the
Target Center when Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets play the Timberwolves at
7:00 PM on Monday, February 4th, 2008. The annual Asian/Chinese Night has
been very popular among the local Asian and Chinese communities. You can not
only see Yao Ming playing, also a good time to gather together to have fun
and entertainment. The Timberwolves also uses this night to benefit the
local Asian and Chinese communities (such as donations, free tickets and
youth clinic).
There is no exception this year. Since Yao Ming will only play at Minnesota
once this year, and the Chinese Lunar New Year is on February 7th, they want
to use this special night to celebrate the Chinese New Year and culture to
honor Yao Ming and the audiences. The highlights for this night include:

acupuncture; Traditional Chinese music performed by Chinese GuZheng Master
Mr. Li and his students; Chinese Calligraphy by Chinese Heritage Foundation
volunteers; Chang Mi Korean Drum & Dance;

night yet. Stay tuned for any update to watch him for the first time in
regular season in Minnesota.
