1. 2007 Asian Media Access' Lunar New Year Celebration Gala - March 4th,
2007
2007 Asian Media Access' Asian Lunar New Year Celebration Gala is coming in
March.
What: Asian Media Access will host its Second Annual Asian Lunar New Year
Celebration. The Celebration is to raise needed funding for Asian Media
Access' Multi Arts Complex.
When: Sunday, March 4, 2007, 12 PM - 3 PM
Where: The Varsity Theater in Dinkytown, 1303 4th Street, SE., Minneapolis,

Admission: $35 per person

The celebration will highlight the bests of Asian movie trailers and
funniest commercials and a Silent auction.
Buffet Lunch: The buffet will feature dishes of Twin Cities Asian
restaurants such as Chinese, Hmong, Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese, etc.
Silent auction: Items include performance tickets, restaurant gift
certificates, free coffee from Caribou for a year, and much more. All funds
will go toward building of the Multi Arts Complex.

Asian Media Access is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering the
use of media and information technology as an educational and communicative
tool to "Connect the Disconnected" within the Asian American & Pacific
Islander (AAPI) community. Asian Media Access seeks funding to establish a
Multi Arts Complex to support Movie theater/live performance; while
providing training space for media Arts, leadership skills, and housing
units of cultural living. The requested funds will be used to purchase,
design and renovate a building at 2418 N. Plymouth Ave. in Minneapolis. For

UM Chinese New Year Celebration

5. Minnesota Sinfonia Concert
Great Winter Festival III In Memory of Yuri Merzevsky
Date & Time: Friday, February 2nd, 7:00 p.m.
Location: Saint Paul Campus, Auditorium
Tai, violin soloist, plays Pagannini. The concert is free and no
reservations are required, but seating is limited and will be first come,

6. Asian Americans & Pacific Islanders¹ Day at the Capitol
It¹s once again time for the annual Day at the Capitol! The program will
feature community and legislative speakers and a Youth Speak Out. There
will be exhibits and displays by non-profits. This is an excellent
opportunity for everyone, citizens, non citizens, legal residents, ELL
students and community members to visit the capitol, have fun and see
legislative advocacy in action.

Mu Performing Arts: Japanese Drumming
Date & Time: Monday, Feb. 26, 7 p.m.
Location: Ridgedale Library, 12601 Ridgedale Dr.,, Minnetonka (952-847-8800)
Thunderous sounds of immense taiko drums protected harvests from pests and
evil spirits in ancient Japan and today will create an exciting musical
experience certain to be a highlight of 2007. The award-winning Asian
American theatre company, under the artistic direction of Rick Shiomi,
communicates the traditions and history of Asian cultures in stunning, high
volume, and highly acclaimed percussion performances.

8. The Indonesian Performing Arts Association of Minnesota - Gamelan Music
of Java
Gamelan Music of Java

The Indonesian Performing Arts Association of Minnesota will introduce you
to the magical percussion sounds of an orchestra like no other - a gamelan.
Joko and Tri Sutrisno, master performers from Java, direct an accomplished
ensemble of musicians who will perform on a unique assemblage of bronze
gongs and metallophones from the Indonesian islands and involve the audience
in all aspects of their performance.
