1. Watch North Minneapolis Residents Speak Up at TPT Ch. 17
Watch North Minneapolis Residents Speak Up at TPT Ch. 17
Show Time: January 26th, 2008 at 9pm on TPT/17
Introduction: "Speak Your Mind" is a 30-min video, designed as a
non-traditional community engagement project, sponsored by Juxtaposition
Arts and Asian Media Access. The project is led by youth and young adults
from both agencies, they went out on the streets of North Minneapolis to
capture the ideas and opinions of the people who live, work and frequent the
neighborhood.
This program is a collage of ideas, stories, and sound bites that paint a
multi-faceted, complex, and at times, conflicting portrait of the Northside.
Please tune in, at 1/26, and write to us about your opinions at
amamedia@amamedia.org, or call at 612-376-7715

3. "Give Kids A Smile" - Free Dental Care for Low-Income children
The Minnesota Dental Association is pleased to coordinate a special event
called "Give Kids a Smile."
Dates: Friday, Feb. 1 and Saturday, Feb. 2
More than 2,000 Minnesota dental professionals will provide free care to
low-income children in need. The dental care will be available in
community-based clinics and private dental practices in more than 200
locations throughout the state. They need your help in letting families
know about this free service. Several types of promotional materials are
available online at:
http://www.mndental.org/public_home/about_us/give_kids_a_smile/ under the
section "Spread the Word." You can select from colorful fliers in English
and Spanish, or simple black and white take-home sheets (easy to photocopy!)
that explain the program in six languages. They also encourage you to
forward this information to others who may work with low-income families.
So many of the children who receive dental care through "Give Kids a Smile"
learn about the program from their teachers, school nurses, social workers
or other adult leaders in their lives. They are thankful for your
partnership in serving the needs of children who do not have access to
dental care or who cannot afford needed dental care.
