Beyond Silence II: Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Recovery Month
Forum

Location: Hmong American Mutual Assistance Association, 1130 North 7th
Street, Minneapolis, MN 55411

The Forum is free and open to the public - lunch will be provided.

- Who will benefit from attending?
AAPI Parents, Youth, Community-based Agencies, Social Services, Support
Groups, Health Clinics and Treatment Centers, Juvenile Departments, Local
Public Health Officials, as well as City, State and Federal Partners.

- Exhibits from local agencies with resources on Alcohol, Tobacco and Other
Drugs (ATOD) treatment, prevention and other community health initiatives
- Youth Track for 10-18 year olds: How to Say No to Drugs, peer pressure and
prevention education
- Keynote Address by Ford Kuramoto, Los Angeles/National Asian Pacific
American Families Against Substance Abuse (NAPAFASA)
- Remarks by Local and Federal officials
- Presentations and Forum for Discussion, including: Reflections on local
Substance Abuse Trends and Panel Discussion on Eliminating Access Barriers
for Substance Abuse Treatment

By honoring September as the "Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month",

2. 2nd Annual Hmong Summit

Ready 4 K's Hmong Project is hosting its 2nd Annual Hmong Summit.  The theme
this year is "Celebrating Champions" to commemorate Hmong grandparents.
They would like to extend an invitation to 50 Hmong grandparents who provide
day-to-day care for young children.  So please pass this information along
if you know if Hmong grandparents who are interested in attending and
applying for this summit.  This summit will focus on school readiness,
quality care, healthy family/communities, emergency response training, and
early childhood findings in the Hmong community.

Date & Time:  Saturday, September 8th, 8 am ­ 5 pm
Location: Community School of Excellence, 1330 Blair Ave N, St. Paul

This project is also currently looking for co-sponsorship.  Those interested
in partnering or know of organization who might be interested, please
