2. Conference - Involving Immigrants in Minneapolis Neighborhood
Organizations
Involving Immigrants in Minneapolis Neighborhood Organizations! This
conference is for Minneapolis neighborhood organizations and immigrant
organizations interested in increasing participation of new arrivals in
neighborhood organizations.
Date & Time: Wednesday, October 25, 2006, 5:00 to 9:00 pm
Location: Room 40 Law School - 229 19th Avenue S - Minneapolis, MN 55455,
West Bank Campus - University of Minnesota

will be given to representatives of Minneapolis neighborhood organizations
and immigrant community leaders.)
Conference Program:
5:00-6:00: Welcome Conference Overview
- Who Are the New Immigrants in Minneapolis? Barbara Ronningen,
Demographer, Minnesota State Demographic Center
- 6:00-6:15: Introductory remarks, Dr. William Greene, Superintendent
Minneapolis Public Schools
- 6:15-7:15: Dinner
Dialogues, small group discussions on cultural issues
- Who are you and what is your cultural identity?
- How does your cultural identity shape your neighborhood participation?
- What can neighborhood associations do to be more inclusive?
- What will you do to make your neighborhood group more inclusive?
- How have you been involved in your neighborhood?
- What do you see as the barriers and opportunities to neighborhood groups
being more inclusive of immigrants and refugees?
- 7:15-8:30: Panel Discussion, Successful neighborhood organizing with
immigrants
- 8:30-9:00: Mini-Grant Program, Financial support for City of Minneapolis
recognized citizen participation neighborhood organizations to increase
outreach and involvement of immigrant residents and businesses.

5. The DocuLens Asia Film Series and Forum
The DocuLens Asia film series and forum sponsored by the UM Consortium for
the Study of the Asias and the Institute for Advanced Studies will hold its
main event Nov. 2 - 4, 2006. They will have filmmakers and scholars here
from around Asia to discuss films, filmmaking practices, and cultural topics

E-three is currently recruiting interested participant for the 2007
Commingle: Urban Fashion and Art Show.
Looking for:
- Fashion Designers or stylists
- Models
- Dancers
- Musicians
- Visual Artists
- Makeup/Hair Stylists
- Sponsors to help make the show possible.
All positions are on a volunteer base.
Who is E-three?
E-three is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, enlighten,
and expose local artists and talent. The organization has put on events
such as fashion shows for local designers, produced musical events, and held
inner city art expos. Through their events they strive to become one of
Minneapolisıs top resources for independent and emerging artists.
