2006, a two-week event of youth sports and arts events hosted by North
Minneapolis. This unique collaboration between the business and arts
communities will showcase artists of all ages who live and/or work in
North Minneapolis. Wall-space and performances will be hosted at businesses,
organizations, and studios, which will stay open for the self-guided event
featuring visual and performing artists.
SUBMISSION DEALDINE: June 28, 2006
OPENING EVENT, PERFORMANCES, AND MEET THE ARTISTS: July 28, 2006, 6 pm to
10 pm

You may submit up to 5 work samples with your application
PARTNERS: This event is a partnership between the PEACE Foundation,
Northside Stories, Folwell Center for Urban Initiatives, and the Northside
Arts Collective.
The PEACE Foundation will facilitate the match between artists and FLOW
sites. The PEACE Foundation will market and fund the event, including
creating a map & guide to the event and producing event signage.
The businesses will exhibit the work up for 2 weeks, and have information on
hand about the artist. Each site will work directly with the artists on the
hanging and striking of their show.
The artists will be responsible for hanging and taking down their work.
They will communicate directly with their site for coordination. They will
provide information about their work (business cards, flyers etc.) on site,
and will be present the night of FLOW.
GOALS: This event is meant to create opportunities for North Minneapolis to
build partnerships, work together in a unified way and create and sustain
enduring relationships and collaborations. It will be a highlight event for
North Minneapolis, focusing on W. Broadway, to promote the
Northside as a destination area for the broader community. We believe the
arts can be both a social and economic vehicle to bring positive attention
to our community.

feature arts component of the 2006 PEACE Games and PEACE Summer events. A
street team of youth will be on site at Northside community events where
attendants will be invited to engage in a symbolic act of peace by having
their picture and story documented with someone across divides of race,
experience, or geography. The program will culminate with a touring exhibit
that will premier at the Walker Art Center during the PEACE Games before
going out into the community.
