You are invited to participate in Minnesota Asian Health Data Summit III:
Expanding
Traditional Research to Accommodate the Asian and Pacific Islander (API)
Community. This is a FREE community-led and volunteer-driven event.

Date & Time: Thursday, June 29, 8:15 a.m.-1 pm
Location: Neighborhood House-Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center for Community
Building, 179 Robie Street E., St. Paul, MN 55107

SPACE IS LIMITED. To register, please send your name and contact
information by June 27th to asiansummit3@yahoo.com.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The goal for the Summit is to expand collaboration between API communities
and health-related institutions to address multiethnic health data issues.
Their objectives include:

a) Increase the understanding of who the API community is in Minnesota and
their health-related issues

b) Understand community-based participatory research and the added quality
of data when research subjects are involved in planning the research

c) Learn about actions to improve efforts to gather API health data

d) Participate in a dialogue between institutions and community to increase
mutual understanding of what data is important to both parties; current
methods and/or ideas to collect missing data in the future.

They are pleased to welcome a national leader in API health data to assist
their related efforts in Minnesota.

Ninez Ponce, BS, MPP, PhD from UCLA's Department of Health Services and
Center for Health Policy Research will be joining our local and reputable
community voices in expanding traditional research to accommodate the API
community.

This event would not be possible without the generous support from their
partners who include: Asian and Pacific Islander American Health Forum,
Association of Asian-Pacific Community Health Organizations, Council on
Asian-Pacific Minnesotans, Hennepin County Office of Multicultural Services,
Hmong Health Care Professional Coalition, Minneapolis Department of Health
and Family Support, and the University of Minnesota - School of Public
Health.

They hope you will be able to join them in their journey to strengthen the
health and well-being of all Minnesotans. Creative community-wide thinking
will be critical to their success.

2. CHATıs 5th Annual Hmong Art & Music Festival

CHAT's 5th Annual Hmong Art & Music Festival!

Date: Saturday, August 26, 2006
Location: Western Sculpture Park (on Marion Street, across from Sears in St.
Paul)

Remember the scorching sun and non-stop fun they had at the Festival last
year? Unless you didn't attend - in which case - you DON'T want to miss out
this year!

CHAT's Annual Hmong Art & Music Festival is the only one of its kind. It's
the only place where you can enjoy a wide variety of music and dance, get
inspired by the visually - enticing creations of talented Hmong artists, sit
on the introspectively interpretive sculptures in the park, collect and
absorb a wealth of useful information from community resources, buy unique
artwork from local artists, and be one in thousands of happy people while
eating a bowl of "medium-hot" papaya salad.

Every year, the creative energy increases and now that they've reached their
5th year, there is no telling what to expect - except more art, better art,
and YOU!

Come as an artist, patron, vendor, enthusiast, tourist or resource - it's a
good time for all ages. For more information or request a Vendor/Resource
Form, email kathy@aboutchat.org.
