1. Free Summer Music & Movies in Loring Park
Summer Music & Movies; 30th Anniversary Screwball Masters: Sturges, Hawks,
and Cukor
Dates & Time: Mondays in July 24 - August 21, 7:00 pm
Location: Loring Park
Price: Free Summer Music & Movies celebrates its 30th anniversary with
another great set of free concerts, DJs, and films. For six Mondays, head
to Loring Park for music by Low, Haley Bonar, and other bands, followed by
classic comedies of the 1930s and '40s, including His Girl Friday and
Bringing Up Baby. In case of rain, events are canceled unless otherwise
noted.

less--50¢ within its expanded "downtown zone"--and avoid the hassle of
traffic. Bus lines serving Hennepin (4, 6, 12) and Nicollet Avenues (11,

3. Imaginings and Intersections: Envisioning an Ideal Arts Landscape For
Communities of Color
Imaginings and Intersections: envisioning an ideal arts landscape for
communities of color, hosted by The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council and
The Minnesota State Arts Board.
Date & Time: July 24, 2006, 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Location: Center for Independent Artists, 4137 Bloomington Avenue South,
Minneapolis
Who: Artists from all communities of color and cultures, including
immigrants
Why should I attend: Through this convening, they seek to Build strength as
a network of artists and arts groups in communities of color, especially as
agents working for a new vision of society; share ideas; dialogue around
challenges and also around new ideas and inspiration to further your work.
Schedule:
2:00 p.m. - Gather, connect with others
2:15 p.m. - Welcome and Opening Dialogue around the focus question: What¹s
my vision of an ideal arts landscape to inform and support my future as an
artist?
3:00 p.m. - Open Space small group conversations: opportunities to gather
with others interested in your questions, your topics for dialogue around
the focus question, with reporting back into the larger group.
6 - 7:00 p.m. - Reception: social networking, food and beverage

4. PEACE Games & FLOW Volunteer Opportunities
The PEACE Games will launch at the end of the July starting on July 28th
with FLOW, the first-ever Northside Arts Crawl, and ending with the
celebration and closing ceremonies at the Walker Art Center on August 10th.
They are looking for volunteers to support several key events associated
with the PEACE Games.
Please review this schedule of volunteer opportunities and see how you can
join in!
Volunteer Opportunities:
Saturday, July 22, 10am to noon - Doorknocking in North Minneapolis
Meet at the Bean Scene at 2220 W. Broadway (at Penn)
Come and meet neighbors in North Minneapolis door-to-door with invitations
to FLOW and the PEACE Games.
Friday, July 28, between noon and 10pm - FLOW set up and event assistance
Meeting location to be determined depending on shift.
Noon to 3pm or 3pm to 6pm - Help set up the for the first-ever Northside
Arts Crawl.
6pm to 10pm - Volunteer as a PEACE Foundation representative at FLOW. This
will involve greeting people at sites and serving as a key information
source to visitors.
Thursay, August 10th, from 11am to 4pm - PEACE Games Celebration and Closing
Ceremonies
At the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden
Volunteers are needed in shifts to help run this event that provides over
1500 Minneapolis youth an opportunity to experience the many cultures in
Minneapolis.

In addition to volunteering, you can cheer on young athletes as an
olympic-style spectator!
